An Ideal Day Out in Belfast
Belfast is a modern day metropolis with a population of more than 267,000 people, and if you add in the surrounding urban areas, that number rises to more than 483,000.
It was recently declared as one of the safest cities in the UK and is fast becoming a thriving tourist attraction, especially from tourists from the other parts of the UK. This is a world away from the dark image the city had during the troubles which plagued the city for much of the second half of the 21st Century.
If you want to spend an ideal day out exploring Belfast and experience what it has to offer tourists, then you won’t want to miss theses sights and attractions.
Getting Around in Belfast
Firstly, it isn’t that hard for a tourist to explore or get around in the city. Much of Belfast can be explored by foot or you can take our Belfast City Tours. Head to the Belfast Welcome Centre as your first stop to get some maps of the city and find out about available tours and places of interest.
Our sightseeing bus tours take about two hours and take tourists around the city centre to see things like the famous murals that are painted on some of the terraced houses, as well as the Harland and Wolff docks where the famous, yet tragic Titanic was built. You also get to see the world renown Queens University.
Or, take a Black Taxi tour, which can be arranged by your hotel and should also take around two hours. The drivers have normally lived in Belfast for quite some time and know the popular spots that most visitors wish to see.
Sights to See in Belfast
Depending on which section is explored, there are lots of interesting sights all over Belfast. For instance, in the centre of the city you won’t want to miss City Hall, which offers free guided tours; as well as the beautiful Saint Anne’s Cathedral or the Titanic Boat Tour.

In the northern part of Belfast you can visit the Zoo or Belfast Castle, while in the West there are several parks, as well as the Eileen Hickey Republican History Museum and some famous Political Murals. Then, round out the trip with a jaunt to the East to see the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum or the Stormont Parliament Buildings.
