Landmarks in Belfast You Should Definitely Check Out

The city of Belfast in Northern Ireland offers a wide range of landmarks that are more than worth the effort to seek out. Historical Belfast Landmarks

One of the most famous landmarks in Belfast is Albert Clock, which was first erected back in 1865 in Gothic style as a way of commemorating Prince Albert, consort to Queen Victoria. Standing no less than a hundred and thirteen feet in height, it features a statue of the Prince as well as floral decorations and beautifully carved crowned lions.

Another incredible historic landmark in Belfast is Antrim Castle Gardens and Clotworthy House. Four hundred years old, the Gardens are unique in the whole of Northern Ireland, being a fascinating living museum featuring more than four hundred years worth of heritage and culture that spans sixty acres of land. Oldest Museum in Ireland

A landmark that is highly worthy of note in Belfast is Armagh County Museum. The oldest museum not just in Northern Ireland but in all of Ireland, Armagh County Museum is set in Armagh’s beautiful Mall, which is lined with Georgian trees, and features collections that capture hundreds of year’s worth of stories that relate to the people of Belfast and Armagh County, including local history, archaeology, natural history and fine art.

A Historic House with a Grade A listing, Ballywalter Park is another Belfast landmark well worth a visit. One of the most important such historical houses in the whole of Ireland, Ballywalter Park has been comprehensively restored to its former glory, surrounded by two hundred and seventy acres of lake, woodland, fields and pleasure grounds.

Belfast City

Belfast City Hall is one of the most iconic buildings in Belfast, first opening to the public more than a century ago back in the August of 1906. Situated in the heart of the city centre in Donegall Square, Belfast City Hall is open for free public tours to learn about its history and includes exhibitions and the Titanic Memorial Garden. The illuminations at Belfast City Hall, which see the beautiful architecture of the building light up in an array of combinations and colours, have also become quite famous in its own right.
