Summer is now officially here, and that means that lots of fun festivals and events are also on their way. Here are a few of the top Northern Ireland events to check out this summer. There is no reason to be bored this season, because great events are happening around the corner! Travellers to the area should make sure to try to incorporate a few of these into their itineraries.
From the 17th June to 9th of July you can visit the Causeway Coast and Country Foodie tour. Throughout the tour you will discover the best local produce and enjoy all the hidden gems that the North coast has to offer. During the 5 stop tour along the spectacular Causeway Coastal route you will get the opportunity to taste local foods and sample the world famous Bushmills whiskey.
Food Glorious Food
The following weekend is the River to Lough Festival, which takes place on July 2nd at the Antrim Castle Gardens. This is one of the most tempting food festivals in Northern Ireland, but also features a fisherman’s story telling session, heritage boats, entertainment for all ages, and even a campfire for young kids.
Those who love music will want to check out Celtronic 2016, which takes place in Derry from June 29th through to July 3rd. Celtronic is a huge electronic music festival now in its 16th year, and will feature some of the best live acts and DJs in the world. Of course, there will also be many Irish acts, such as Ryan Vail and Phil Kieran, as well.
Sporting futures
Support local sporting talent by checking out the Super Cup Northern Ireland, which takes place July 29th at the Showground in Ballymena. The cup is a series of youth football competitions, and is a one of kind event that attracts teams from all over including Manchester United. Plus, there is a very colourful parade of the teams that walk around Coleraine before the actual contest day.
Finally, summer would not be complete without a trip to the EastSide Arts Festival which shows off all of the local talent in East Belfast and beyond. The festival takes place this year between August 10th and 21st at many different locations throughout the ‘EastSide’ of Belfast. There is a huge variety of movies, comedy, talks, exhibitions, poetry and more events, spread out across the city.
